I have been fortunate in my weaving life to have many weaving friends, mentors and teachers. Two of whom, Karen Donde and Kathie Roig, I worked with on an Annie Albers collaborative piece. We each designed and wove individual pieces for our collaboration called "Still Life with Annie", as well as truly worked on a rug together. Karen designed and wove the fabric for a chair; Kathie designed and wove a wall hanging; I designed and wove a throw; Karen designed, I wound the warp, and Kathie wove the rug for our collaboration.
We first entered our work into the Haywood Community College EXCITE juried show. This was an October 2014 exhibit of contemporary fiber work inspired or reflective of the design ideals set forth by Annie Albers at Black Mountain College. Kathie, Karen and I were given the Juror's Award for our collaboration.
The collaboration was accepted into Intertwined 2015: Contemporary Southeastern Fiber Art and was on display throughout the state of Georgia for all of 2015.
In May 2016 "Still Life for Annie" was accepted into the AnnMarie Sculpture Garden & Art Center in their Threads: a Sampling of Fiber Art Exhibition. In this juried show we won the Juror's Award as well.
